The Vineyard House, The Next Great Cult Wine of Napa

The Vineyard House (TVH) owner, Jeremy Nickel, located in Oakville California (historically known for growing great Cabernet), is where you will find this beautiful property.

I had the opportunity to visit TVH and was hosted by Craig Norris-manager of TVH, and Jeremy’s longtime friend. This property is stunning to view. TVH has 25 acres planned, 33 in total; 10 acres of that is Chardonnay—which will become another one of his wines in the near future.

He’s also growing fabulous Cabernet Franc; and one day hopefully, it will be added to his portfolio.  Jeremy is very passionate about making TVH…one of the next great cult wines of Napa Valley.

I tasted through the 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011 vintages of TVH; and 2008—was the most impressive wine with layers and layers of red fruit, blackberry-well integrated acidity that enable the wine to flow to a very long and enjoyable finish.

A common theme throughout TVH wines is a bright line of acidity and fruit that runs directly through the center of these beautiful wines.  But make no mistake…these wines are built to age;  and will be better as time moves on.

Another outstanding characteristic of TVH is the location of the TVH grape vines.  Jeremy’s neighbors’ vineyards are Harlan, Bond, and Far Niente. TVH first vintage was 2005, so that should give you an understanding of the unlimited potential that exists at TVH.

Through blind tasting against other Cult wines, and word of mouth—TVH has become known throughout the wine community as the next great Cult wine of Napa Valley.  Currently Jeremy is only producing approximately 800 cases of wine.  His father, Gill Nickel–who passed away in 2003, is the inspiration behind Jeremy making such a quality wine devoted to his father.
